September and October are the best times of the year for boys and girls to get back into lacrosse. If you are in elementary or middle school and would like to give the sport a try, or played last year but haven't touched a stick since Spring, the Dragons Fall Training program is the right choice for you! If you’re entering 9th grade and would like to try out for your school team in the Spring, we can help you prepare for that as well!
The Fall Training program consists of small group sessions that take place every Sunday at Grant Elementary School in Santa Monica (see below for schedule). During each session your son or daughter will work on building strong fundamentals, which include throwing, catching, cradling, ground balls, shooting, dodging and footwork. Fall Training will also emphasize the basic building blocks of being on a team such as the importance of punctuality, staying focused, bringing a positive attitude and of course we like to have fun! All sessions are led by professional coaches with extensive knowledge of the game.

If you don’t have gear…no problem! We offer free loaner gear with a $100 refundable security deposit required. If you are unsure that this sport is for you but would like to give it a try, please contact us directly so we can set up a trial session for you.
At the end of the Fall Training program, all players are invited to participate in our annual Halloween Beach Party. Click HERE to see the video.

Box Lacrosse is a must for any aspiring top-level player. It is one of the most highly regarded training tools and has put many players on the college recruiting path. Dragons Lacrosse had one of the longest running and most successful box programs in LA and we consistently put our players in the most competitive environments possible. Since our start in 2012 we have played in every Southland box league and won championships at every level. In 2017 we stepped up to the highly competitive OCBLL and won 3 out of 5 divisions. In 2018 we won 2 HS titles and collected 3 third place finishes in a league with 53 teams. We are going to continue to be a leader in 2019. Here are 2 links to box videos from 2018:
Box is one of the building blocks of our year-around training program. It really reenforces stick skills, playing in tight spaces, picks, the two-man game, as well as defensive skills such as playing body defense. And it is great conditioning. Below are links to articles that explain the benefits and advantages of box lacrosse:
This year, YOUTH TEAMS will once again compete in the Southern California Box Lacrosse League (SCBLL) - formerly known as the Orange County Box Lacrosse League (OCBLL). SCBLL is the largest and most competitive box league in Southern California. HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS will compete in either the SCBLL or the new LA Elite Box League (LAEBL). The LAEBL is an invite-only league for high school programs. Our current plan is to have Dragons Varsity (11th & 12th grades) play in the SCBLL and for Dragons JV teams (9th & 10th grades) to play in the LAEBL. A final decision on JV placement will be made at the end of July once we have more information from the LAEBL and we have a chance to review registration numbers.

Each team will practice once a week and have at least 8 practices during the season.
Details on specific practice times and locations will be made available as soon as are permits are issued.
Divisions & Teams
USBOXLA is becoming the standard for setting box rules and this year both the SCBLL, as well as the new LAEBL are adopting their age rules. This means we will have teams in the following age groups:
HS Elite(Varsity)- Seniors and Juniors
Midget (JV) - Sophomores and Freshmen
Bantam (7/8) - 7th and 8th grade - no current freshmen
Peewee (5/6) - 5th and 6th grade
Novice (3/4) - 3rd and 4th grade
Teams will be limited to 12-14 players. Once the spots are filled players can continue to register but will be waitlisted. If we get 24 players in a division, we’ll move all players off the waitlist and form a second team.
Our box jerseys from last season were a big hit but they are also quite warm to wear on hot days. For this season, we have decided to go back to our traditional Dragons jersey. If you have a jersey from last year, you can continue to use it and save yourself the uniform fee. If you wish to purchase a new jersey or are a new player, you’ll need to purchase by August 10th so we can get our order in. We will accommodate jersey number requests as much as possible. The jersey is $45 and can be purchased as part of the registration process below.
The box season is designed for intermediate and advanced players with at least 2 years of playing experience, or for athletic players that are willing to put in the time required outside of practice to improve their stick skills. Registration for the regular season is first-come, first-served until we meet the roster cap.
Registration for the 2019 box season opens today and we have sold out every year.
Registration is first-come, first-served and limited to 12-14 per team
We guarantee the first 12 spots and spots 13 & 14 are likely to be taken but not guaranteed.
If you are not part of the first 14 but want to play, please register and we'll automatically put you on the waitlist. If we have enough players, we'll form a second team.
You must register AND complete payment to reserve your spot.
The season fee is $595, which is the same it has been the last 2 years.
Those of you that have been playing box with us for a bit remember the Cali Cup. It was a really cool box tournament at the end of the season. We won multiple age groups and had a blast. Well, the Cali Cup is back on November 2nd & 3rd and we will be fielding teams at every age group. The tournament takes place at The Rinks in Irvine, Huntington Beach and Corona. Each team is guaranteed 5 games plus playoffs. For now, we just want to get this tournament on your radars so you can mark it in your calendars. More information on tryouts and registration will follow over the course of the summer.
